Teaching others my passion
As a graphic designer who is in his junior year, really got to play a huge role in media. It began when the first Oculus virtual reality came out, I was very fascinated by that technology and gave me the urge to pursue it and learn all about it. I started by volunteering at the 3D form design lab and the form design studio. When I began volunteering I had so little information about the 3d design world. The more and more time I volunteered the more I learned about how 3d designing and printing worked, and how that 3d technology was evolving.
After a while, of volunteering in the form design lab and studio, the director offered me a job to work as lab technician which came with a lot of responsibilities, which I was fortunate to have. Some of the responsibilities were to host workshops for the public of Newark to teach them some 3d technics. I also teach high school students how to 3d design and 3d printing. Teaching others my passion and to get them excited about it is what really makes me happy.
Another project that I got involved in through the form design studio at express Newark was collecting data from historical architectural buildings from Newark. Recently I got to scan the Krueger Scott Mansion on MLK. Newest American at Express Newark asked the form design lab to help scan the mansion before they renovate the mansion. The Form Design lab agreed and placed me in charge of gathering all of the photos of every inch of the mansion. My job is to gather every picture from the mansion and stitch it together in a program so it can be viewed in a virtual reality so that the place can be viewed and always remembered.
If it wasn't for my interest in the virtual reality and how it gave me an urge to learn all about the 3d world, I would not have been who I am today. Volunteering for the 3d form design lab at express Newark, changed me and basically changed what I thought I wanted to do in my life, changing my major from a bio to a graphic designer.
