Media In My Life

For me, a lot of my media consumption comes through fashion. I use a lot of my media to look at clothing brands, different styles, and new trends. As a result of this, I end up purchasing brands and clothing to show off this style. Also, I have subscribed to several companies and I am used for marketing by promoting their products through my own social media. In exchange, I get discounts, a percentage given back to me after an amount of money is made, and free products. Another way is by my position in my club at school. I am responsible for sending information out to the whole club and others to talk about current events and new things going on. I use the media to send out this information to everyone. I know that getting the information out through social media is reliable so I use it to connect people with information.

I make many flyers for my club so posting and sharing information through social media is very common. My club is with the radio station and I am constantly around music and mixing new tracks. We also have artists from our campus composing music through our station and publicize their work on our page as well. On some of the radio shows they will promote their own events or events they will be attending through their podcasts. For publicizing the information, I turn to Instagram a lot. I can reach a huge number of people because they will watch the story and know what new things are happening at the radio station.

Media is a huge part of my life. I am constantly connecting with people and working with social media. Also, I am a journalism and video production major which are two fields that are filled with a constant flow of social media. Journalism is always being looked at when you open Instagram and see new posts about things happening in the world whether it be celebrities, sports, politics, or science. Video production also revolves around media because it is used to have people visually see the media being exposed to them. For my profession, I know the media will be close to me at all times because I will be providing content to the public.

I hope to be able to create documentaries and merge both journalism and video production together. When recording and creating the documentary, I have to keep in mind how the public will see the story I am making. Because I will become the media, I need to make sure my message is clear and not ever missed. Many times the media showing something and it is taken the wrong way. There have been pictures taken out of context and stories have been formed from an innocent situation interpreted the wrong way.
