I Am Woman. I Am Human.

Nessiboo is a blog that I manage outside of this course, being a small factor to what I hope will one day launch career as a journalist. All of my articles are written in prose and are usually about rants that I may have at the moment. For this project, I have decided to write an article about accepting the gender norms in today’s society, mainly as a female.

In this course, we have many readings on gender expectations, how men have the power to end sexism, and how women also have the power to end sexism. We have discussed gender roles and identification, but I will be focusing more on how both genders, no matter how one identifies, should learn to respect their norms. Jackson Katz of the San Francisco Chronicle believes that if men actively become more respecting of women, they will receive a great deal of support from those who wish to see gender equality. Personally, I believe that it doesn’t take a lot of thought to be respectful to anyone regardless of their sex and gender. In my blog post, I mention that we are all human, and we have the ability to make this world a better place if we just learn how to be more nice and accepting of each other.
