I would say my media consumption began with books and tv when I was younger. I am a first generation American with parents that immigrated from Ecuador so my first language is spanish. I learned english through watching television and reading books in english. This has always been a big reason why I love cartoons, tv, and movies in general. My love for cartoons has stayed even now and is a reason why I also enjoy watching anime. Movies have always been a big part of my life and I don't think I will ever get tired of going to the movies. It always reminds me of going to the movies with my family and brings back good memories, there is also something special about movie theater popcorn (even though it is crazy expensive).
Currently I think music is the media that I consume the most throughout the day. I try to keep up with new artist and genres and really enjoy going to festivals and shows to witness live music. I have seen a large number of artist live and the experience has been both amazing and terrible. From seeing amazing performances from Frank Ocean, Kanye West, A Tribe Called Quest, and Erykah Badu to getting my heart broken by Lauren Hill. I've spent a lot of money but it has been well worth it. The experience of seeing great performances is always worth it. Music just help me get through the day and helps get my creative juices going. If I am working on a project I am listening to music. I also still enjoy watching music videos. Now i have to watch them on youtube and search them out instead of seeing them on TV but their are a lot of great videos out if you know what you are looking for. I have included a link to a couple of my favorite videos currently.
Art has always been a big part of my life from a young age. Museum trips have been something that I enjoy and help with my creativity. I enjoy taking time out to explore a museum and experience all types of different art. The museum that Ive been to the most is The Met and its always a great time. Just like many other art students I have spent the day just sitting and sketching different sculptures and artifacts. I'm including a picture of one of my favorite sculptures from the met, Ugolino and His Sons by Jean Baptiste-Carpeaux
When it comes to design and I love type color and simplicity. Clean fonts and great use of color always catches my eye. All the media I consume presents itself in the work that I produce and I feel like it comes in handy having all those references. In the future I would like to work in motion design and hopefully see my work everywhere.
