Who do you think you are?

I am a creative. My passion is art in the form of music and lyrics. Music is how I express myself and how I connect with others. The exposure of media is important to me.  It is important to my craft. It helps with creating content that is relevant to others. My ability to connect with others is passionate to me. Being able to share experiences with those whom you have never had a conversation with is intriguing to me. Without media, the art of connecting with others would be impossible.
Not only am I a creative, but I am a parent. This aspect of my life is the most important. Although I have been a creative all of my life and a parent for only 8 years, hearing "mommy" is what puts my world into perspective more than anything. I have never known love to such a great magnitude until I became a mother. I have always paid attention to media, but more so after I became a mom. Knowing what is going on in the world today is a part of what helps me parent effectively. My goal as a parent is to expose my children to the positive aspects of the world and to shield them from the negative aspects.
I am a black woman and a feminist. I believe in empowerment. I believe in having the ability to do and say what you feel no matter your race or gender. Media is very important to this phenomenon. Identity and culture is what makes the world the way it is. Media has opened the door for individuality.
Media has shaped our past, is shaping our present and will shape our future. It is imperative to our being.
